Hotel Ved Fjorden

Hotel Ved Fjorden is located in the land of hills and waves, where you're never far from nature and enjoy a fantastic view of the Limfjord and the town of Lemvig.

Lemvig is rightly called the “smile of Western Jutland,” and right here, in this charming spot by the Limfjord and not far from the North Sea, lies the old manor where the hotel is housed.

When you stay at Hotel Ved Fjorden, you are in harmony with nature. It’s right outside your door. On Gjellerodde, sheep graze and help maintain the vegetation.

The History of the Manor

Hotel Ved Fjorden was originally a large farm from 1841. The buildings have been continuously restored and expanded – most recently in 2024 – with respect for the original structures. The farmyard and the old wings have been preserved and blend harmoniously with the beautiful surroundings.

Over the years, many families have lived on the farm, which was owned by the same lineage for several generations. They lived off farming and fishing. Fishing took place, among other spots, at Horn Lake west of the farm. The animals grazed on the meadows down towards the fjord.

In the 18th century, the enterprising Johan Frederik Vedel expanded with his own brickworks, a horse mill, and a well in the middle of the yard. He also created a beautiful garden with all kinds of root vegetables.

The Family of Author Jane Aamund

Guests at Hotel Ved Fjorden can still enjoy the sight of the well-preserved farmhouse from 1841, built by Chr. B. and Ane Møller, who were the great-great-grandparents of the late author Jane Aamund.

Jane Aamund wrote about her family from Lemvig in the book series "The Family Chronicle." This series consists of two family novels, “West of the Moon” and “Yearning,” both of which are set on the farm.

There are plenty of opportunities for an active holiday when you stay in Lemvig. Lemvig Golf Club is only 500 meters from the hotel and offers a stunning view over the fjord. Follow the Planetary Path towards Lemvig town, where the harbor buzzes with life and the cozy pedestrian streets invite you to shop and indulge in the many cafes and restaurants.

It’s only a few kilometers to Klosterhede Plantation, where you’ll find marked cycling and hiking trails. At Møllesøen, you might be lucky enough to spot deer and beavers at dusk.
